A Way of Life
I don't have to read very far back in my journal to remember who I was as a fourteen year old. Death has been on my mind. It could be a subconscious preparation for winter. Small deaths make up who we are. I heard that from a song lyric. I can't help but relate. As I write this to you I am emotional, but still have serenity as my fingers feel the familiar rhythm on the keyboard.
Venus is in retrograde. Trying to recover again from a relapse, I stepped my toe into a new hobby. Singing has been an emotional release throughout the years. Yet, I've reached the point where I want to sing with people. So, I attended a community choir after some prompting by a good dear friend.
Am I an alto? Further, am I alto 1 or 2? I was confronted with these questions and still didn't know for sure after two hours of singing. The Sing Whiz app helped me find my vocal range. I am so grateful this morning for this tool. As you continue to read, and maybe even follow my work, I hope to bring to you a complete picture of what life is like in a creative field. However, creativity is a shared trait by many professionals (if you know what I mean).
Creativity is a way of life. There are ways to commune with life in the most beautiful way. This doesn't mean it's easy. There are challenges for creatives in this age that we have never seen before. Unity is the key. To go with the seasons calmly is an art. If you really think about it, the possibilities of expression really are endless. It's the overwhelm of these possibilities that creates blocks.
Further still, I find and welcome the challenge of direct and indirect communication. Sometimes the audience is known and other times the realm of the cosmos is where my voice is heard. The void isn't real. It's the negative critic. Don't listen. It tells lies. It tells you how you SHOULD (hate that word) be creative. It is too serious to play. It needs healing. For, your artist is a child.
The negative critic lies. Lies are defense mechanisms from past hurts and heartbreak. The brain doesn't want to fail. It wants to be right. Don't let anyone keep you from your joy. Don't quit creating. Learn to transform hurt and heartbreak into expression. It's better to share them then keep them as a crutch. One of my goals is to guide you through this process with me.
